Project Details
Introduction
We recently tackled a major project that involved upgrading the lift control system for a reputable Singapore-based technology company. Their existing system, over 20 years old, was causing frequent breakdowns and safety concerns. After a critical fault in January 2024, we proposed a modernisation solution to improve reliability and reduce long-term costs. Our goal is to provide a solution that meets operational needs while prioritising safety and efficiency.
The Challenge
Problem
The existing lift control system, over 20 years old, faced frequent faults and major damage due to aging. These faults not only caused operational disruptions but also posed safety concerns for the passengers. With components becoming obsolete and unavailable in the market, each breakdown led to prolonged downtime as the repair solutions were temporary and unsustainable. In early January 2024, a critical fault occurred, resulting in the short-circuiting of the lift motherboard and drive system. This incident highlighted the urgent need for a comprehensive solution to address the outdated infrastructure of the lift control system.
Solution
Presented with two options—repair or modernisation—the recommendation was to modernise the lift control system. Repairing the damaged components would have incurred high costs, offered a limited warranty, and provided uncertain reliability, potentially leading to further breakdowns in the future. On the other hand, modernisation offered a holistic approach to revitalising the lift's performance and safety standards. By replacing the obsolete control system with a new, technologically advanced one, the client could ensure long-term reliability, reduced maintenance costs, and enhanced user experience. The modernisation process involved meticulous planning, installation of state-of-the-art components, and rigorous testing to guarantee optimal performance. Moreover, with a longer warranty period and ongoing support, the modernisation solution provided peace of mind to the client, assuring them of the lift's continued operation without major disruptions.
Key Results and Outcomes
- Refreshed and refurbished the aging lift control system.
- Achieved higher reliability, ride comfort, and long-term cost savings.
- Completed the modernisation within 13 days, 8 days ahead of schedule, surpassing customer expectations.
Conclusion
By choosing to modernise the lift control system, the client ensured improved performance, reduced downtime, and enhanced user satisfaction. Our dedicated team's efficiency led to early completion, showcasing our commitment to exceeding client expectations.
