Introduction
In this case study, we present a passenger lift full modernisation project for a global MNC in Singapore.
The Challenge
Problem
The client faced a significant challenge with their main lobby's sole passenger lift. This lift experienced exceptionally high usage due to the frequent hosting of international guests and clients. Over time, the wear and tear on its components led to an alarming increase in breakdowns. The lift's reliability became a pressing concern, particularly as the frequency of breakdowns risked disrupting important events or causing inconvenience to valued guests. Moreover, the aging lift's performance deteriorated, resulting in discomfort for users and diminishing the overall experience.
Solution
To address the client's pressing concerns and ensure the continued smooth operation of their main lobby lift, we proposed a comprehensive solution: a full lift modernisation. The goal was not only to resolve the existing issues but also to future-proof the lift, enhancing its performance, safety, and comfort for years to come.
Our solution was tailored to meet the client's specific requirements and objectives. We recommended a phased approach to minimise disruption to the client's daily operations. The first phase focused on modernising the lift's driving system, including the main motor, ropes, and over-speed governor machine. By upgrading these critical components, we aimed to improve the lift's reliability and performance while extending its useful lifespan.
In the second phase, we tackled the lift control system, encompassing the main controllers, display indicators, buttons, and electronic cabling. This phase aimed to enhance the lift's usability and user experience, ensuring smooth operation and intuitive controls. Throughout both phases, our team worked closely with the client to ensure minimal disruption and adherence to strict scheduling requirements.
Key Results and Outcomes
The client's main objectives were to greatly improve reliability, extend the lift's useful lifespan, and enhance the riding experience and comfort. The project involved:
- Full Lift Modernisation including Lift Control System and Lift Driving System
- Phase 1: Modernisation of Lift Driving System (3 weeks)
- Phase 2: Modernisation of Lift Control System (3 weeks)
Despite the tight schedule and the need to accommodate the client's hosting events, we successfully completed both phases on time. Daily progress checks and proactive issue resolution ensured smooth project execution.
Conclusion
The passenger lift full modernisation project addressed the client's concerns regarding lift reliability and safety while extending its lifespan. By completing the project within the specified timeframe, we ensured minimal disruption to the client's operations and provided peace of mind during their important events.
